Kate Northrop: Lyricist, Songwriter
Kate Northrop is an American songwriter based in Europe who works primarily as a lyricist with many talented artists, composers and producers. She writes in many genres, but feels most at home with pop. Her credits include songs with major publishers (Universal Germany, EMI South Africa, Warner Finland, Melodie der Welt), lyrics for a song in the soundtrack of an award-winning German short film, and many more.Kate was born in Connecticut (USA) and studied music and English literature at Bennington College in Vermont and at the University College of Wales (UK) until she decided to try out life as a travelling musician, on tour with an English singer/songwriter. She toured for several years in Europe and the USA, which enriched both her life and her songwriting skills. Her first CD, "Roots and Wings" (Brambus Records) recorded together with Swiss multi-instrumentalist Sandro Friedrich, was released in 1992, followed by a tour of clubs, pubs and festivals in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. She has lived in Switzerland since 1994.
